Episode 13: Chasing Anthems and Friends Interview Punk Band "Planet Mercury"

On episode 13 of "Chasing Anthems and Friends podcast", Richard and Travis had the amazing opportunity of interviewing Boston based Punk Band, “Planet Mercury”.  Inspired by early 2000s punk riffs, British punk melodies, and social satire, Planet Mercury is bringing a wave of nostalgic-sounding punk to the New England music scene.

Planet Mercury was formed in 2017 when Patrick Connolly (bass) and Michaela Logan (vocals, guitar) responded to an online advert from Jeremiah Picard (lead vocals/guitar) in regards to forming a band in Massachusetts. After the first meet up, the band quickly found common inspirations through many rock, pop, and punk bands of the late 90's and early 2000's, and they immediately began writing their own original material. Michael Gibb soon joined the band as their drummer, and Planet Mercury quickly made its way into the local Boston and Worcester music scenes.

In the summer of 2019, Michael Gibb stepped down as drummer, and Chris Lovejoy joined soon after. Planet Mercury has played all across the East Coast spanning over three tours. They've played venues such as Paradise Rock Club opening for Dalton and the Sheriffs, and the Xfinity Center's second stage supporting Blink-182 and Lil Wayne. The Massachusetts punk quartet released its debut LP "It's an Odd Feeling, Feeling at Odds" in August 2021. Check it out now!
